Biography
John Markus joined Leeseberg Tuttle in October 2015 as an associate attorney, where he has quickly established himself as an up-and-coming trial attorney. John focuses his practice on medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation, where he has obtained several million dollars on behalf of his clients, through both verdicts and settlements. John handles cases throughout the State of Ohio and has tried cases as far south as Gallia County (Gallipolis) and as far north as Lucas County (Toledo), and many other jurisdictions in between. Throughout his career, John has developed a reputation for his empathetic and compassionate demeanor, outstanding communication skills, and professionalism amongst his peers.
Prior to joining the firm, John attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he focused his education on practical, hands-on litigation experiences. While in law school, John was a member of the Trial Practice and Moot Court teams, where he received the University Award for advancing the national reputation of the moot court program and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society for students demonstrating outstanding oral and written advocacy skills. Additionally, John served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ethna M. Cooper at the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas and worked as a legal fellow for the Ohio Innocence Project where he played a significant role in the exoneration of Ricky Jackson, the longest serving wrongfully convicted person in U.S. history.
Prior to law school, John graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and obtained his high school diploma from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Outside of the courtroom, John prioritizes spending time with his wife and children, where they can often be found attending Columbus Clippers baseball games, riding their bikes along the Hilliard Rail Trail, or hanging out at the splash pad near Center Street Market in their hometown of Hilliard.
